When adding an extension to your property, one of the many decisions you will need to make is what kind of roof you want your extension to have. Now, this can be a difficult decision to make as there are so many options for you to choose from. So, today we are going to share with you some of the roof types, helping you to choose the best one for your extension.
Flat Roof
This is one of the most common roof types that is used on extensions across the United Kingdom. This is one of the most common types due to its price, and how quick and easy it is for builders to install. This is a roof that offers the protection you need, but could also come with a few issues when extreme weather comes into play. We would not recommend you always choose this roof type as it may not be the best option for you. There are many other options out there that may work better for you at only a slightly higher price point.
Pitched Roof
Another roof option for your extension is a pitched roof / a-frame roof. This in our opinion, is a better style of roof to use on extensions. The shape of this roof allows water and debris to slide right off of it, helping to prevent damage. You more commonly see this being used on homes and buildings, so why not use it on your extension? Yes, it may be more money, but to us, this is worth every extra penny for the life span of your extension.
Glass Roof
You can also decide to have a glass roof installed onto your extension. This type of roof will be the most expensive as it is the most difficult to install due to the material being used. This is an extension that will add ample light into your home, helping to reduce the cost of your bills. Making this a good investment to make depending on what the extension is being used for.
